The Discovery School of Virginia

Our daughter has matured tremendously since being at Discovery School. Her ability to communicate, her self-confidence and problem-solving skills are some of the changes we've seen so far. It's exciting to see her progress!

I have been extremely pleased with our experience at The Discovery School.  The overall program is well organized and supervised; activities and consequences are consistent, well thought out, tough but non-shaming; staff are respectful of the girls and their families and easy to work with. The education program is excellent and has addressed my learning disabled daughter's needs more effectively than any other school experience to date. My child did not want to go away to school, and taking her there was pretty traumatic for the rest of our family, as well. We are excited about welcoming her home again, but leaving Discovery is going to be harder than any of us could have imagined.  Discovery has become her "second family", and we are so grateful that she has had the opportunity to be a part of this program.

There’s not a day that goes by that I do not think of The Discovery School and all that you guys did for Ben and our family.  Ben is a different person now. He is much calmer and a lot less angry.  I am not sure what the future holds for Ben. I hope he can find a career he enjoys. The fact that I can even talk with you about the future for Ben is a miracle. Had it not been for DSV and your intervention in Ben’s life, I don’t think he would have much of a future. Thank you for everything!

Justin is 20 years old now and living on his own.  He works full time for a home improvement company and really likes his job.  He has been dating the same girl for two years and they plan on getting married.  He lives about 15 minutes away. We talk to him and see him every week. We are forever thankful for The Discovery School of Virginia.  You made a huge difference in Justin’s life.

Things have been going well with Nathan. He earned a 3.8 his first semester while working 20 hours per week.  He is captain of the lacrosse team. He was accepted to five colleges.

Jason is doing well and has finished his first year  at Texas A&M. He is in the Corps of Cadets and voted best new cadet.

Justin misses you guys. He really felt a family atmosphere and acceptance with you all.  At DSV he says he was in an atmosphere where people respected you.

Ryan has been such a pleasure to be around!  He is 18 now and starts college tomorrow. Thank you!!!

Mark made the honor roll! I never thought I’d see the day I would be giving Mark such high ratings. Please let Mark’s group leader know he made a difference in a child’s life.

I just wanted to send a brief note to give staff an update on Iain. I am happy to report that Iain is doing well at his high school. He will be graduating in June. He applied to three universities and was  accepted into them all.  Needless to say we are very proud of him.  It seems he is still using the skills of problem solving and communicating that he learned at DSV.  I hope all who worked with him will hear our heartfelt thanks.
