The Discovery School of Virginia for Girls serves young women who are experiencing emotional, behavioral, and learning problems. The 150 acre girls program is located in the lovely Piedmont region of central Virginia.  The school uses a group problem solving process and the natural environment to promote a girl's overall positive development.  

Referred students are frequently described as being immature, impulsive, angry, and oppositional. Often prospective students are experiencing failure in the traditional school setting. Due to their poor coping skills, enrolled students typically have a number of unresolved emotional and family issues; however, despite their difficulties, they are able to learn to form supportive relationships and mature within the group setting provided at the school. 

The Discovery School of Virginia is licensed by the Commonwealth of Virginia Department of Education and accredited by the Virginia Association of Independent Specialized Education Facilities (VAISEF)
