REFERRAL AND ADMISSIONS PROCESS
The referral/admissions process is relatively simple. Call Don Williams or Mike Forman with questions and to discuss a prospective student’s presenting behavioral and emotional problems, age, intellectual functioning, grade placement, academic history, educational needs and family issues. Other considerations may include the prospective student’s diagnosis and medication needs, response to previous services, legal history, physical health, and custody issues. If available, psychological evaluations and other pertinent summaries may be helpful in determining if our services fit the needs of the prospective student.
If a prospective student is considered a candidate for enrollment, we encourage parents in particular and when feasible the prospective student to tour campus and talk with enrolled students in order to gain a better understanding of their experience and then with staff to further explore the suitability for enrollment. Tours are typically scheduled weekdays between 9:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. When parents are not able to schedule a tour due to proximity or time constraints, staff will consider the prospective student with input from parents and other involved professionals. Occasionally staff will require the prospective student to participate in an on-campus interview. The goal of the admissions process is to determine if the philosophy of the program and the services offered are a good match for the described needs of the candidate for enrollment being considered.
When an agreement to enroll a student is reached by our staff and parents an application packet is given/sent to parents for completion. An admission date (Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday) is discussed and arranged when parents indicate they are ready to enroll their child.
